Just an update on the behaviour of the computer - in 'Windows Task Manager' the 'svchost.exe' is back to CPU 0% but the 'system Idle Process' keeps hitting 99 %. I was particularly excited about this one as wevare getting to the Windows Management week and this is a great example of the practical application of that lesson. I run Windows XP PROF. The problem is solved.
