The reason MSE is no longer effective is because M$ has not updated it as vigourously and as regularly as other security companies have updated their products. Is Microsoft Security Essentials Safe its better than nothing, but nah i wouldnt use solely. All of this is, surprisingly, free, minus Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO, and with a fast enough computer, I still have my 7-second boot time, and that's with Windows 7.

I was really responding to some of the comments that were in response to yours. It has proven to be very effective on certain occasions and I have no doubt that feature has kept me out of hot water.
