Failed To Run /usr/sbin/wicd As User Root

No help. Also it is not possible to reinstall wicd_1.5.1_all.deb, nor can I install network-manager since apparently wicd cannot be stopped see this screenshot (this is what happens trying to reinstall the package:http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/1936 I was ready rebuild the entire hard drive but sure dreaded doing it.
